The best time to visit in Palakkad is in the colder months i.e. November and  February ,when traveling is most comfortable due to the temperature. You can also go during the monsoon season, which brings cooler temperatures to the area.



The weather is typical of tropical plains and is mostly wet and hot. Summers are very hot and humid, with high temperatures. March and April are the hottest months, while July is the wettest month. The district receives heavy rainfall from the southwest monsoon winds. Winters, on the other hand, is very pleasant and cool with mild temperatures.



The Cheras ruled the area surrounding Coimbatore during the Sangam era. Despite being a part of the dominion, the Palakkad Rajas held authority over the city. Due to the abundance of blackboard trees in this area, the name Palakkad is a combination of the Malayalam words Pala and Katu, which mean "blackboard tree and forest." Tipu Sultan gave the British East India Company ownership of the Malabar Coast and South Canara in the 1790s; the company stayed under the presidents' control until 1947, when India gained its independence.
